Pitijada stalls in Veles to be rented by location; fees will vary
Municipality announces public call with different tariffs, bans unauthorised placement and confirms musical programme in October.
From this year the Veles municipality will rent the Pitijada festival stalls through a public call and charge different fees depending on where each stall is located, the organisers said.
“We decided to make a correction to the previous way of operating. With this decision we believe the distribution is fairer and more equitable. Those closer to the stage should pay a higher price. If more people apply for the same location, there will be a public auction,” said Aleksandra Ivanova of the Pitijada organising committee.
Prices and rules
The highest fee is 120,000 denars for the parking area to the right of the stage. The two stalls closest to the stage, one on the left and one on the right, are set at 30,000 denars each. The next three stalls on each side of the stage are priced at 24,000 denars each, and all remaining stalls are 18,000 denars.
Locations for a small Bazaar have also been designated: the fee is 2,000 denars for the three days, plus a 1,000 denar application charge. Advertising stands are available at 6,000 denars for the three days for an area of 5 square metres.
The organisers banned placing tables, stalls, advertising material or other equipment outside the mapped areas — a common occurrence in previous years along the access streets to the Pitijada stalls. “Our goal is for the manifestation to look nice and cultured, not like a fair,” Ivanova said.
Mayor Marko Kolev said the event will move to the town centre once an underground garage and the new square are finished. “When the construction of the underground garage and the new square is finished, the event will be held there, in the city centre. I am considering making next year's Pitijada last two days; the third day somehow does not have large attendance, so we will reduce costs and bring a bigger Balkan star on Saturday night,” he said.
Musical guests scheduled for this year are Vlatko Lozanovski on 9 October, Serbian singer Natasa Bekvalac on 10 October, and on 11 October David Temelkov and the band Crvena jabuka.
