Slovakia votes in regional and local elections with 4.4 million eligible voters
Regional governors, assemblies and nearly 3,000 municipal offices are being decided in one day; partial results expected overnight.

About 4.4 million voters in Slovakia are casting ballots in regional and local elections today, a test of public mood ahead of the next parliamentary vote, which must be held by September 2027.
The three-party coalition led by left‑populist Prime Minister Robert Fico faces the possibility of losing its parliamentary majority, according to recent analysis. Polls do not, however, point to a clear majority for the liberal and conservative opposition either if early parliamentary elections were held now.
Regional presidents, councils and thousands of municipal posts at stake
All eight regional governors and regional assemblies will be chosen in what officials and observers describe as a kind of "super-election" held in a single day. At the same time, mayors and municipal councils are being elected across nearly 3,000 municipalities.
In Slovakia's two largest cities, Bratislava and Kosice, voters are also selecting mayors and full city councils, making both urban contests closely watched for political signals.
There will be no official exit polls or national projections on election night; partial results are scheduled to be released overnight as counts from polling stations are tallied.
