Serbian Progressive Party proposes Aleksandar Vučić as prime minister if he wins early elections

The ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has proposed President Aleksandar Vučić as its candidate for prime minister if he wins the upcoming early parliamentary elections. The party's main board unanimously decided that Vučić will top the electoral list called "Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia".

Miloš Vučević, leader of SNS, announced the decision at a party meeting held in Niš and said Vučić will be the central figure of the campaign.

Timetable announced on television

Speaking on TV Informer, Aleksandar Vučić said he will call the elections no later than 9 or 10 September, and mentioned 18 and 25 October as possible voting dates.

Vučić also stated that, if entrusted with forming a government, his cabinet would number at most 12 ministers — which he described as the smallest government in the country's history.

The announcement places Vučić at the head of SNS's strategy for the early vote and sets a clear timeline for the campaign and potential transfer of power should his list prevail.
