Assembly to mark International Day of Democracy on 15 September
Speeches by Zlatko Atanasov, Deputy Speaker Antonio Milososki and Swiss Ambassador Kristof Zomer; pupils will join a Q&A and a film screening.
The Assembly will mark the International Day of Democracy on 15 September with a programme that brings together lawmakers, experts and secondary school pupils.
Opening remarks are scheduled from Zlatko Atanasov, state adviser and head of the Parliamentary Institute; the Assembly's deputy speaker Antonio Milososki; and Kristof Zomer, the ambassador of Switzerland to North Macedonia.
Discussion and educational segment
After the introductory speeches, pupils present at the Assembly will be invited to take part in a question-and-answer session on the theme "Democracy." The questions will be posed by Sonja Stamenkovska, a historical adviser, and Daniel Goqeski, an adviser for legal-political education.
The event will also include the screening of a short film titled "How Shari Became a Member of Parliament?" following which MPs and the students will hold a discussion with Stamenkovska and Goqeski.
Organisers say the programme is intended as an educational outreach to familiarise young people with parliamentary work and democratic processes, giving pupils a chance to question elected representatives directly in the Assembly chamber.
