Parliamentary committee restores higher pay for Constitutional Court judges
Parliamentary committee approved higher coefficients for the Constitutional Court president and judges; the changes apply from October 2026.
The Parliamentary Committee on Elections and Appointments voted unanimously to amend the coefficients used to calculate salaries for the president, members of parliament and other officials appointed by the Assembly, restoring higher pay levels for judges of the Constitutional Court.
"The Committee on Elections and Appointments acted on the Constitutional Court's decision as it was issued," said committee chairman Gjorgjia Saikoski.
Which coefficients changed and when they take effect
Under the committee's proposal, changes were made to Article 1 of the decision that determines salary coefficients. In particular, point 5 — "President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia" — replaces the coefficient 2.81 with 3.08. In point 16 — "Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia" — the coefficient 2.60 is replaced with 2.85.
The revised coefficients in Article 1 will be applied starting with the salary payment for October 2026.
Saikoski added that the parliamentary committee, as the competent body, was obliged to implement the Constitutional Court's ruling. "The Committee on Elections and Appointments, as the competent committee, had to follow the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia's decision, which was effectively made by suspending part of the Law on salaries and allowances of elected and appointed officials," he emphasized.
