Spasovski presents documents claiming Gajdov was hired as an ethnic Albanian
SDSM coordinator presented a 2020 job advertisement and selection decision in the Assembly claiming the agency director was listed as Albanian when first employed.
Skopje, September 17, 2026 — Oliver Spasovski, coordinator of the SDSM parliamentary group, presented documents today from the podium in the Assembly alleging that Petar Gajdov, director of the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, was originally employed listed as an ethnic Albanian.
Spasovski said the agency has lost institutional credibility because of its director's actions and read aloud the recruitment paperwork from the post to which Gajdov was first hired. According to the documents, the vacancy — opened under the institution's 2020 Annual Plan — specified that the position was intended for an Albanian (male or female), and the selection decision shows Gajdov was chosen as assistant-head of the Sector for Legal, General Affairs and Administrative Procedures as an ethnic Albanian.
Claims and notarized declaration
Spasovski quoted the advertisement and the decision directly during his speech: "This is the public advertisement on the basis of which you were employed. The advertisement states that the planned employment, according to the institution's Annual Plan for 2020, is for an Albanian, i.e. Albanian female. From the decision by which the selection was made it is clear that you were chosen as assistant-head of that post as an ethnic Albanian. I am not entering into whether you are Albanian, Macedonian, Chinese or something else. Everyone has the right to freely express their national affiliation. But, you are Albanian until the moment when you need to compete for director of the institution," Spasovski said.
Spasovski added that when Gajdov later applied for the director post he submitted a notarized statement in which he declared that he "feels as a Macedonian, with Macedonian national consciousness, and belongs to the Macedonian people." The presentation did not include comment from Gajdov or the agency during the parliamentary session.
The documents cited by Spasovski relate to Gajdov's earlier appointment to a civil service post within the agency's Sector for Administrative-Legal Affairs, in which a single opening was advertised and filled. Spasovski argued those records raise questions about transparency and the agency's impartiality under its current leadership.
No immediate response from the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information was recorded at the time of publication.
