50-year-old from Tetovo charged with endangering wife and daughter
Public prosecutors in Tetovo allege a 50-year-old attacked and threatened his wife and daughter after a dispute over €200; detention has been requested.
The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo has opened criminal proceedings against a 50-year-old man, accusing him of endangering the safety of close persons and of failing to comply with a court order. The office says the case stems from an incident on 14 August 2026 involving his wife and daughter.
Charges and alleged facts
Prosecutors say the suspect is charged under Article 144, paragraph 3 in connection with paragraphs 2 and 1 of the Criminal Code (endangering safety), and under Article 377, paragraph 5 (failure to comply with a court decision). The Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo described the charges as connected to acts of family violence.
According to the indictment, on 14 August the man allegedly threatened to attack the lives of his wife and his daughter while committing domestic violence. The episode reportedly began when unknown individuals came to the family home demanding repayment of €200 they said they had given for the girl's alleged treatment and dialysis.
When the wife admitted that her husband had defrauded those visitors and said she would call the police, the prosecution says the suspect began to beat the girl and threatened to set the family on fire if police arrested him. Prosecutors add that his actions caused feelings of endangerment and fear in the victims, and that he breached protection measures previously ordered by the Basic Court in Tetovo.
Taking these circumstances into account, the public prosecutor submitted a proposal to the judge of the preliminary procedure to impose pre-trial detention on the suspect.
