Tetovo municipal workers receive regular pay after 10 years; celebration held on city square

Municipal workers in Tetovo are receiving regular salaries for the first time in ten years and their health and pension contributions have been paid, the mayor said, a development the staff marked with a small celebration on the city square.

Mayor Bilal Kasami announced the change and described it as the end of a long period of irregular payments for the municipal utility workforce.

Celebration on the city square

The milestone was celebrated in the centre of Tetovo with a reception where baklava was served to attendees. The event brought together municipal employees and local officials.

According to Kasami, the municipality also cleared outstanding debts of the utility company, a step he presented as necessary to stabilise operations and ensure continuous salary payments.

Municipal workers and representatives present at the square said the move provides financial relief for families who had relied on irregular or delayed wages in previous years.

The mayor said the measures — regular pay, settled contributions for health and pension insurance and the repayment of old liabilities — aim to restore normal functioning of the service and improve staff morale.
