Тетовските пожарникари гаснат просечно 11 пожари дневно; 628 интервенции регистрирани годинава

This summer the Tetovo region avoided large-scale blazes, but local firefighters have remained continuously occupied: crews extinguish roughly a dozen fires each day and so far this year have carried out 628 interventions, most of them open‑field or building fires.

Firefighters say the daily workload is high: "Daily, on average, we have 11 fires," officials report, with some days seeing as many as 17 separate incidents. The majority of calls relate to outdoor fires and conflagrations in structures, keeping crews on constant alert.

Pressure concentrated in Tearce municipality

"The situation at the moment is very critical. It is known that we have high temperatures and that causes many fires. Daily, on average, we have 11 fires, but there were days when we had as many as 17 fires in one day. If the high temperatures continue, and the forecasts say so, there will continue to be a danger of new fires and in larger numbers," said the commander of the Territorial Firefighting Unit in Tetovo, Avni Ameti.

According to commanders, the most problematic area in the Tetovo region is the municipality of Tearce, where frequent open‑field fires are caused by stubble burning. Those incidents account for a large share of daily interventions and pose a recurring threat to nearby settlements and agricultural land.

Officials note one positive development: this year a new firefighting unit opened in Tearce, which has substantially shortened response times and allowed teams to reach many incidents faster than before. Still, with forecasts predicting continued heat, authorities warn the risk of further, more numerous fires remains high.
