U15 North Macedonia draw 2–2 with Bosnia and Herzegovina, lose on penalties

On 22.08.2026, in the opening match of the UEFA development tournament for under-15 teams staged in Strumica and Turnovo, North Macedonia played Bosnia and Herzegovina and produced a 2:2 draw in regular time before losing in the subsequent penalty shootout.

Early lead overturned — visitors prevail from the spot kicks

North Macedonia raced into a two-goal lead inside the first 20 minutes: Gabriel Fudarski Mitev opened the scoring in the second minute and captain Leis Fakić doubled the advantage in the 18th minute. Bosnia pulled one back through Nedim Hrnjić in the 27th minute and Kenan Salkanović levelled the game in the 42nd minute to make it 2:2.

After the 90 minutes finished even, Bosnia and Herzegovina converted more spot kicks in the shootout and advanced from the match. The tournament’s other fixture on the day saw Estonia edge Ukraine 1:0.

The hosts used a largely local-age selection, with a starting list and bench that featured several mid-game substitutions.

MACEDONIA: 12. Ognen Bozhinovski, 3. Stefan Petkovski, 4. Kalin Arsovski (16. Hari Papić 56′), 5. Maksim Mechkarovski (15. Nenad Jovanović 34′), 7. Leis Fakić, 8. Amir Baftijari (13. Stefan Drndarovski 52′), 9. Angel Simonovski (18. Adem Vukelj 52′), 10. Gabriel Fudarski Mitev (21. Ubeit Muadini 71′), 11. Stefan Shilkovski, 14. Leon Ristov (17. Džemal Alili 71′). 6. Marko Martinovski (20. Orges Elezi 71′)

The result will be processed as part of the development-phase standings; teams at this age group play to gain international experience and playing minutes rather than for promotion or relegation stakes.
