Three arrested over burned cables and landfill fire near Ohrid
Ministry of Internal Affairs says suspects are from Kavadarci, Shtip and Struga; charges will be filed under Article 288.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of burning cables and setting fire to a landfill near Ohrid, authorities said. The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the detentions on 18 September, 2026 at 12:12.
The suspects are from Kavadarci, Shtip and Struga, the ministry statement said.
Police will file criminal charges
“After full documentation of the incident, criminal charges will be filed against the persons under Article 288 of the Criminal Code — ‘causing general danger’ — it is stated in the Ministry of Internal Affairs announcement.”
The ministry did not release further operational details in its initial message. Investigators continue to collect evidence and complete procedural steps before the formal submission of charges.
The arrests follow an investigation into the fire at the landfill near Ohrid; authorities stress that, once the case file is complete, the prosecutor’s office will be forwarded the proposed charges under the specified article of the Criminal Code.
