Shooting in Skopje's Dukjandzik: 26‑year‑old fatally shot, suspect on the run
Two people on a motorcycle opened fire at a group outside a shop; investigators say the alleged shooter had been serving a prison sentence and was on weekend leave.
A 26-year-old man was shot dead last night in the Dukjandzik neighbourhood of Skopje after two people on a motorcycle opened fire at a small group standing by a shop window, police said. The victim was rushed by ambulance to the Mother Teresa Clinical Centre but died overnight despite doctors' efforts.
Those who were standing near the storefront were identified by initials as D.G. (29), A.Dž. (24), K.B. (36), E.B. (25) and A.M. (26), all from Skopje. The attackers fired from a passing motorcycle and fled the scene; investigators are currently searching for the shooter.
Investigation under way
Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office attended the intersection where the shooting occurred — at Prohor Pchinski and Vojdan Chernodrinski streets, a short distance from the Bit Pazar police station — and collected evidence at the scene.
"An on-site inspection was carried out, traces were collected that will be subject to expertise, an order for autopsy was issued, and other actions are being taken to secure evidence," said the Public Prosecutor's Office. Forensic tests and further investigative steps are ongoing.
Unofficial information received by reporters indicates the suspected shooter is currently serving a prison sentence and had been released on a weekend leave at the time of the attack; authorities confirm a man matching that description is being sought.
Preliminary findings suggest the killing may be tied to disputes between criminal groups involved in drug trafficking. Reports also mention the so‑called Belanoca group, though any link to the organisation and the motive remain unconfirmed. The deceased is reported to have been from the Topansko neighbourhood.
