Leaks and missing heating at Stiv Naumov student dorm

Students at the recently renovated Stiv Naumov student dormitory say water leaked into rooms and that central heating is not providing warmth according to their needs. They told dormitory staff about a leak on Monday and say a promised repair did not arrive in time, after which water entered rooms the following day.

Studentarija, a student platform, urged that such faults be fixed promptly and asked authorities to clarify the cause and the delay in responding to the report.

Administration response

State Student Dormitory director Aleksandar Karovski confirmed that the building is covered by an 18‑month warranty and explained the reporting procedure to the Ministry of Education, which notifies the contractor responsible for repairs.

Karovski said: "According to the contract with the contractor for the reconstruction of the dormitory, the building and all accompanying contents have a warranty period of 18 months. Our obligation as an institution is to report the problems that occur to the project unit in the Ministry of Education which notifies the contractor who should repair the damages. In relation to the central heating, the dormitory is connected to the system of ESM which is competent for the distribution of thermal energy according to the rules of the Regulatory Commission, i.e. at a certain outside temperature there is no heating."

Students have previously complained about a lack of hot water, insufficient heating and poor cafeteria food, issues that continue to fuel dissatisfaction among residents.
