Shtip opens "Pastramajliada 2026" with giant pastrmajlija

The festival "Pastramajliada 2026" opened in Shtip today with the traditional cutting of a giant pastrmajlija on the Vancho Prke promenade, launching two days of music, food and entertainment.

Local specialty sold at a fixed price

Organizers say visitors will be able to taste the town’s signature dish, pastrmajlija, at both the promenade and the city stadium. The pastry will be sold at a uniform price of 250 denars.

During the two-day event Shtip will host musical performances and other entertainment; attendees are expected from neighbouring towns, the wider region and abroad. Visitors told reporters they primarily expect a good time and socialising.

Shtip’s mayor, Ivan Jordanov, said the city is organizationally prepared to welcome guests from home and overseas to sample the culinary specialty for which Shtip is known, and to enjoy the programme that includes well-known musical names from the country and abroad.

The Shtip Regional Police (SVR Shtip) warned that the festival will increase the number of people in town and appealed for responsible behaviour, respect for legal regulations, traffic signs and the directions of police officers. They also asked residents of the Municipality of Shtip, if possible, to reduce unnecessary use of motor vehicles over the weekend.

The event runs today and tomorrow, offering a mix of tasting, concerts and city bustle around the Vancho Prke promenade and the city stadium.
