Tetovo registers 865 first-graders, decline only in Albanian-language classes
Municipality registers 865 first-graders; mayor expects numbers to increase after remaining registrations.

Tetovo Municipality has registered a total of 865 first-grade pupils for the upcoming school year: 696 in Albanian-language instruction, 154 in Macedonian-language instruction and 15 in Turkish-language instruction.
Mayor Bilal Kasami said he expects the figure to rise slightly once school starts.
"This number is expected to increase with the start of the new school year, because we expect the pupils who have not yet completed the enrollment procedure to register as well," Kasami says.
Comparison with last year
The current tally is lower than last year's total for first graders only in the Albanian-language stream. In the previous school year, municipal primary schools recorded 778 first-graders in Albanian-language instruction, 144 in Macedonian-language instruction and 15 in Turkish-language instruction.
Tetovo Municipality said the final count could change as late registrations are completed and the enrollment process is closed.
