75 drivers fined for failing to yield during nationwide traffic sweep
A Ministry of Internal Affairs operation yesterday between 07:00 and 12:00 recorded 358 traffic offences in total, 75 related to right‑of‑way breaches.
A concentrated traffic operation across the country yesterday uncovered dozens of drivers who failed to respect right‑of‑way rules, resulting in 75 fines issued during a five‑hour sweep.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs says the enforcement action ran from 07:00 to 12:00 and focused specifically on drivers who disregarded traffic rules governing right of way. During that period officers registered 75 such offences.
Additional violations raise total to 358
Inspectors also detected a large number of other traffic infringements while carrying out checks. According to the ministry's data, 283 additional offences of various types were recorded alongside the right‑of‑way breaches.
Altogether, the operation resulted in 358 traffic violations being logged during the five‑hour control, with appropriate legal measures taken against those found breaking the rules.
Right‑of‑way regulations are among the basic traffic rules and are especially important at intersections, when a vehicle is joining traffic, and where movement is controlled by traffic signs. Failure to comply can create hazardous situations and lead to accidents, officials warned.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said stepped‑up traffic checks will continue and repeatedly appealed to drivers to obey traffic rules and posted signs to improve safety for all road users.
