A large number of farmers gathered today in the Strumica village of Murtino to protest the purchase price being offered for red peppers. According to participants, the purchase price of 25 denars per kilogram is unacceptable and does not cover production costs.

The protest was organized with a demand for urgent state assistance; the farmers requested a meeting with Minister of Agriculture Borche Serafimovski to discuss measures and better purchasing terms.

Announced blockades and spreading discontent

The organizers announced they will implement blockades if their demands do not receive a concrete response. Gardeners from other Strumica villages joined the protest, pointing to wider dissatisfaction among producers in the region.

Participants emphasize that the figure of 25 denars per kilogram is the immediate reason for the mobilization and announce an escalation of measures if support solutions are not proposed.

The protest in Murtino continues as an expression of long-standing complaints by local producers about low purchase prices; the farmers say they will remain organized until they receive a satisfactory response from the institutions.
