Traffic intensity rises on state roads outside urban areas; no long waits at border crossings
AMSM warns drivers to take care on stretches prone to landslides and reminds of summer bans on heavy trucks with precise weekend and heat-related time windows.

Traffic on state roads is moving without disruptions on dry carriageways, with an increased intensity on routes outside urban areas, the Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Macedonia (AMSM) reported. There are no longer waits at border crossings on the Macedonian side for entry or exit from the country.
Drivers are advised to adapt their speed, obey traffic signs and exercise caution at the wheel, particularly on roads that pass through basins, river valleys and gorges where rockfalls are possible. AMSM highlighted several stretches that require extra attention: Katlanovo–Veles, Mavrovo–Debar–Struga, Vinica–Berovo and Kochani–Delchevo.
Summer traffic regime and bans for heavy trucks
From 1 July to 31 August a summer traffic regime is in force on state roads in North Macedonia, prohibiting movement of heavy goods vehicles with a total mass over 15 tonnes during weekends and on days with extreme high temperatures. The restricted periods are: Friday 17:00–22:00, Saturday 09:00–18:00 and Sunday 09:00–22:00.
On days designated as having extreme high temperatures by the Ministry of Health the ban will also apply from Monday to Thursday between 11:00 and 17:00.
The restriction does not apply to vehicles transporting animals, flowers, humanitarian aid, grain and cereal crops and perishable goods, oil and oil derivatives, transports of dangerous goods, and vehicles carrying out transport for companies that have contracted works on state roads with the Public Enterprise for State Roads.
On the A2 main road section: Skopje–Ohrid–Skopje (valid until 01 September) movement of heavy goods vehicles whose total mass exceeds 7.5 tonnes is prohibited during weekends in the following intervals: Friday 15:00–22:00, Saturday 07:00–12:00 and 18:00–24:00, and Sunday 07:00–22:00.
Authorities urge all road users to follow the rules, plan trips considering the restrictions and heat warnings, and to monitor official announcements for possible changes or additional measures.
