Pensions may rise in October — sample amounts if adjustment is 3%

Pensioners in North Macedonia are expected to see a further rise in pension payouts, which could be reflected in the September pension paid at the beginning of October. Authorities have not yet announced a final rate; the calculations circulating now are presented as indicative.

Unlike the recent flat top-ups, the new adjustment would be percentage-based so the extra amount would vary depending on each pension’s current level. Early estimates put the potential adjustment at about three percent, though the official figure must still be confirmed.

Examples if the adjustment is 3%

Using a 3% increase as an illustration, the added amounts would look roughly like this:

• Pension of 20,000 denars → +600 denars → new monthly amount ≈ 20,600 denars.
• Pension of 30,000 denars → +900 denars → new monthly amount ≈ 30,900 denars.
• Pension of 40,000 denars → +1,200 denars → new monthly amount ≈ 41,200 denars.
• Pension of 50,000 denars → +1,500 denars → new monthly amount ≈ 51,500 denars.

Because the rise would be calculated as a percentage of the existing pension, higher pensions receive a larger absolute increase in denars. That contrasts with the earlier linear model where every pensioner received the same flat top-up regardless of pension level.

Previously, a linear increase of 2,500 denars was applied in September 2024, followed by another 2,500 denars in March 2025, bringing the total increase in that cycle to 5,000 denars. If the percentage adjustment is confirmed, the final sums each pensioner receives will depend on the officially published rate.

Pensioners should wait for the formal announcement to know precise amounts; if the agreed percentage differs from 3%, the example figures above will change accordingly.
