Croatia becomes Europe’s most expensive camping destination — €77 per day on average
ADAC study (26 October 2026): Croatian camps top quality rankings while prices rose 7% this year

Croatia has become the most expensive camping destination in Europe, with the average daily price for a camping pitch reaching €77, while the European average stands at about €50. The finding was published on 26 October 2026 as part of a wider study of holiday trends.
Quality ratings support higher prices
Despite the higher cost, Croatian camps received the highest quality ratings among European destinations, a factor industry representatives say helps justify the premium. The study surveyed more than 6,000 German and Dutch tourists and found that demand for camping holidays in Croatia continues to grow.
Uwe Frers, the general director of the travel platform Pincamp, noted that Croatian camps "successfully justify the high prices through the quality of services." The report also shows that camping prices in Croatia rose by 7% this year, compared with an 8% average increase across Europe.
Germany remains one of Croatia’s most important source markets. The number of recreational vehicles in Germany has reached a record two million, a development seen as creating additional potential for higher tourism revenues in 2027.
Industry analysts say the combination of rising quality scores and a growing pool of camper households in key markets could keep Croatia at the top of the premium camping segment in the coming season.
Tour operators and campsite operators are watching booking trends closely as they prepare for what many expect to be another strong year for camping tourism along the Adriatic coast.
