Kopaonik to get four new ski runs; works contracted for 551.78 million dinars
Works at Mali Karaman will add four runs, modernise snowmaking and upgrade power supply; contract awarded for 551.78 million dinars.

Published: 25 August, 2026 08:14 — Major construction work will soon start at Mali Karaman on Kopaonik to expand the ski infrastructure and increase the resort's winter capacity.
The intervention covers the construction of four new runs labelled 8b, 8v, 8d and 8e, plus adaptation of the existing 8a. The new main run 8b will measure approximately 1.29 kilometres, while the three secondary runs will be about 510, 279 and 127 metres long, respectively.
Technical systems and energy upgrades
The project includes a comprehensive upgrade of the artificial snow system: new water and air pipelines will be laid, additional snowmaking equipment installed, and electrical and data installations connected to the existing network. Work also foresees construction of two new transformer substations and new medium-voltage cable lines to strengthen the site's power supply.
Under the technical specifications, the upgraded snowmaking system must be capable of producing a snow cover at least 35 centimetres thick on all designated surfaces within a maximum of 100 hours of operation under suitable weather conditions.
A contract for the works has been awarded to a consortium composed of TechnoAlpin SpA, Elkoms, Brzmin, Deltacom and TechnoAlpin's Belgrade branch, with a contract value of 551.78 million dinars. Separately, a tender has been published for professional supervision of the works, with an estimated value of 18 million dinars; the supervision will monitor execution quality, materials and equipment, the volume of completed work and preparation for technical inspection.
All construction activities must be completed within 300 days from the contractor's handover date. Project authors say the expansion will substantially increase Kopaonik's capacity and, with the modernised artificial snow system, provide a more reliable ski season.
