11 drivers detained for 'reckless driving', 10 allegedly drove without a licence
Ten suspects are accused of driving without a licence; one was detained for driving under the influence.
Police across North Macedonia detained 11 drivers in the past 24 hours on suspicion of the criminal offense described in Article 297‑a of the Criminal Code — reckless driving. Ten of those arrested are alleged to have been operating motor vehicles without a valid driver's licence.
List of detained motorists
The ten suspected of driving without a licence are identified by initials and ages as: J.V. (39), E.R. (30), S.M. (39) and a 17‑year‑old from Skopje; R.M. (24) from Bitola; the 42‑year‑old Dž.V. and Lj.R. (64) from the Demir Hisar area; an 18‑year‑old M.A. and J.D. (22) from Prilep; and J.S. (36) from the Kočani area.
Separately, M.K. (40) from Makedonski Brod was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said that once investigators complete the documentation for each case, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
The Ministry of Interior appeals to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations, not to drive without a driver's licence or if they have been banned from driving, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol, and for everyone together to contribute to safer traffic.
Authorities reiterated the message that obeying traffic legislation and avoiding driving while unlicensed or intoxicated are essential to reducing risks on the country's roads.
