Mickoski: If opposition files request in Parliament, we will accept it and hold elections

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said today that his government would accept a parliamentary request for early elections and predicted his party would win, while reaffirming the mandate runs until regular elections in April 2028.

Asked by reporters whether there would be early elections, Mickoski stressed that the administration received citizens' trust for a full four-year term but signalled readiness to comply if the opposition files a motion in Parliament.

"This government received the citizens' trust to lead a four-year mandate. We have regular elections in April 2028, but if the opposition submits a request in Parliament for early elections, we are here, we will respond positively, we will have elections and we will win them," Mickoski said after the opening of the renovated building of the Clinic of Neurophysiology.

Political message delivered at a hospital opening

The comment came at the ribbon-cutting for the renovated Clinic of Neurophysiology, where Mickoski combined the formal ceremony with a clear political message aimed at the opposition and voters.

By repeating that his government will accept an opposition-initiated parliamentary request and is confident of victory, Mickoski framed the possible early vote as both legitimate and winnable for his side, while noting the scheduled electoral date of April 2028.
