Hristijan Mickoski urges voters in Brvenica: 'Vote by reason and heart, not along ethnic lines'

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski appealed to voters in Brvenica to back candidates regardless of ethnic or party affiliation, urging citizens to "vote according to reason and heart, not along ethnic lines."

Another party voice, Kasami, criticised opponents from DUI, saying they focused on values and on proving who had won rather than presenting a stronger campaign. Kasami added that parties themselves must put forward the best programmes for residents.

Runoff battle in Brvenica

The second round of the early local elections in Brvenica is scheduled for Sunday. The contest pits the VMRO-DPMNE candidate Radichevski against the DUI candidate Jahij in a direct contest for the municipal leadership.

Mickoski’s appeal frames the closing stage of the campaign as a plea for cross-community support, while Kasami’s remarks underline criticism from within the political scene about the tone and focus of the campaigns.

Voters in Brvenica will decide in the runoff which candidate will take the mayoral post after the initial ballot failed to produce a conclusive winner.
