Vlado Milev: For some, this will be the last European Championship
North Macedonia intensifies final preparations ahead of the European Championship starting on 9 September 2026 in Group B alongside Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine and Israel.

North Macedonia’s men's volleyball team is stepping up preparations for the 2026 European Championship, which opens on 9 September 2026; the team will compete in Group B against Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine and Israel.
Veteran outside hitter Vlado Milev says the camp atmosphere is excellent and that the squad is training with full intensity as it aims to arrive in good shape for the tournament.
Preparations and squad dynamic
“Preparations are going very well. The atmosphere is excellent, we are working at full intensity and want to be in good shape before the start of the European Championship. We, as the more experienced players, want to pass on knowledge to our younger colleagues, who are expected to be the carriers of the game in the future.
This year I feel a slightly different energy. For some this will be their first European Championship, for some their fourth in a row, and for some perhaps the last in their career.
We all want to present ourselves in the best light and record good results at the continental tournament,” concluded Milev.
