Prosecutors seek detention for Tetovo man accused of threatening to burn his daughter and wife
Prosecutors say the man attacked his daughter, threatened to burn her and his wife, and breached existing domestic violence protection measures.
The Tetovo Basic Public Prosecutor's Office has opened proceedings and asked a court to order pre-trial detention for a 50-year-old man from Tetovo who is suspected of endangering the safety of his wife and daughter.
According to the prosecutors, the incident occurred on August 14 when unknown persons entered the family home demanding that the man return €200 they had lent him for the alleged treatment and dialysis of the girl. The wife reportedly admitted that he had defrauded them and said she would call the police.
"At that moment the suspect began to beat the girl and threatened to set them on fire if the police detained him. By this he caused feelings of endangerment and fear among the victims," the Tetovo Basic Public Prosecutor's Office said.
Legal measures and alleged violations
Prosecutors also say the accused breached protection measures against domestic violence that had previously been imposed by the Basic Court in Tetovo. For that reason he is additionally suspected of failing to comply with a judicial order.
The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo has proposed detention while the investigation continues; a court will decide on the request and further procedural steps.
