Fire breaks out in business premises inside Zhelezara factory compound in Skopje

A fire broke out this afternoon at around 17:00 in business premises inside the compound of the Zhelezara factory in Skopje. The blaze affected office space used by a private company, according to emergency responders on the scene.

Representatives of the Skopje Fire Department said crews were working at the location. "Firefighters are responding at the moment. There are no injuries," the Fire Department told us.

Because the building remained alight while crews were still fighting the flames, the fire service could not immediately confirm what other items or activities were located inside the affected rooms.

So far there are no reports of casualties. Fire crews continued extinguishing efforts into the evening and secured the immediate area to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent facilities within the factory compound.

Images circulated from the scene included a screenshot from a video, showing smoke and flames emerging from the affected section. Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the fire.
