Government orders employees in Nova Makedonija building to work from home

The Government reviewed the situation caused by a technical failure in the "Nova Makedonija" building—home to eight state institutions—and decided on temporary work arrangements for affected staff.

Decision and reasons

Because water penetrated part of the electrical installations and full technical and safety checks are required before the building can resume normal operation, the Government recommended that the institutions housed in the building reorganize their day-to-day work so that employees perform their duties remotely, without physical presence at the premises.

Officials stressed the measure is being taken solely for preventive and safety reasons, with priority given to protecting employees' health and safety while ensuring continuity of institutional operations.

Relevant services are working intensively on remediation of the damage and on creating conditions for a safe and complete return of staff to the building.

Separate reports indicate that three ministries and three other state institutions were flooded after a burst heating pipe; employees in those units have been awaiting instructions on how to continue work.
