60-year-old inmate found dead at Idrizovo Prison
Ministry of Interior: D.M. (60) from Negotino was found dead; no visible signs of violence and the body was released for autopsy.
A 60-year-old inmate was found dead inside Idrizovo Prison, authorities reported early yesterday morning.
The Ministry of Interior said that at 05:00 the Skopje Police Department (SVR Skopje) received a notification from the correctional facility that the prisoner D.M.(60) from Negotino had been discovered deceased in the institution.
Medical findings and legal steps
An emergency medical doctor pronounced the man dead and recorded that there were no visible signs of violence. Following instructions from the public prosecutor, the body was transferred for an autopsy.
A police inspection team from the Skopje Police Department carried out an on-site examination of the scene.
The detainee was a convicted inmate of the facility. Authorities say further details will be determined after the autopsy and ongoing procedural actions.
